10 attitudes necessary to be successful in learning a language
Having launched into language learning by the same * and also, having had some successful
exchanges with other students, I have observed that a number of characteristics shared by
these different people still to each other!
I have put together the 10 essential attitudes necessary to be successful in learning a general
language that are very useful to progress quickly and effectively in the language of your
dreams!
1. Have a conquering spirit
The first thing to keep in mind when embarking on such an exciting adventure learning a new
language is to be in the right frame of mind! Because, in fact, your thoughts influence your
actions, so… If you are lazy, unmotivated, lacking in energy, it will be very difficult to make
significant progress in your learning!
And I have heard him say to me “that's fine, but how have I developed this spirit of conqueror?
I am not like that at the base, it cannot become another person “… And it is good because it is
not what I want. What I want is for you to be a better version of yourself, to become aware of
your potential and above all to have great confidence in yourself!
To do this, I recommend some methods that have already proven their effectiveness:
The meditation.
positive thinking (Couet method: repeat positive sentences until believed).
Display.
Theater course, etc.
Put these tips into practice and you will choose the best way to succeed in language learning
2. You have to get up early in the morning
That, to me, another essential component that will help you to be successful in languages!
For me, it is the ideal time of day to do so many things! And it is also a very good thing for
language learning, because in the morning you are not stressed, exhausted and distracted by
the various events of the day that could occur and disrupt your learning.
This also leaves you much less opportunity to procrastinate and so do as many things as
possible before you have started the day! Isn't it cool?
3. Learn every day
What is the main difference between a successful student and one who will not succeed in
sustainable progress? You guessed me: the desire to learn!
In fact, and this also applies to any domain, those who are successful in languages will always
be the most curious, passionate and especially those ... nerds especially who persevere in their
efforts !!

I have put together the 10 essential attitudes necessary to be successful in learning a general language that are very useful to progress quickly and effectively in the language of your dreams!

1. Have a conquering spirit The first thing to keep in mind when embarking on such an exciting adventure learning a new language is to be in the right frame of mind! Because, in fact, your thoughts influence your actions, so… If you are lazy, unmotivated, lacking in energy, it will be very difficult to make significant progress in your learning! You have to get up early in the morning That, to me, another essential component that will help you to be successful in languages! For me, it is the ideal time of day to do so many things! And it is also a very good thing for language learning, because in the morning you are not stressed, exhausted and distracted by the various events of the day that could occur and disrupt your learning. What I mean is that you should not do exhausting 5 hour learning sessions all at once, no! What I want is that in order to be able to claim to TRULY control (master) a language, you need to practice new things EVERY DAY (reviewing, of course, what you knew). Why is it not worth spending 5 hours. One hour is enough! And don't tell me you don't have time! We still have time, it is just a matter of discipline and defining your priorities. Which brings us to our next point ...

4. Eliminate distractions As I have already said in the previous point, in many cases, people who do not have time are just because they do not define priorities and are eaten by a lot of useless distractions that they could very well pass! The time that you will be able to invest in your success in languages: Disconnect your social network! I think Facebook in particular is a real addiction for some! Following the life of your best friend who has bought a new toilet paper in real time will not help your learning. In addition, I also recommend deactivating the option that alerts you to each new notification: real enemy of concentration. Like Facebook, In general, and this was my case for a long time, when working with a computer, we tend to put a Facebook tab, a Twitter and a YouTube tab to get distracted from time to time when a task is finished. Do not do it above all: it is the best way to destroy your concentration and everything that you have previously done will have been useless. When you start, do it until the end, without distractions. Finally, last point, don't let your phone distract you. Your friends are waiting for you! If possible, turn off while you learn, it will be less of a distraction and this will really help you stick with what you do. 5. Don't make language learning the center of your life This may seem paradoxical as advice, but it is a reality because, being too focused and obsessed in one field, it disturbs and stresses you, making learning slower than someone who has other activities and interests in other fields. Ideally, learning a language should be part of your lifestyle and not become the core of it. On the other hand, practicing certain activities can increase efficiency in language learning: Sport relaxes and channels excess energy (in addition to developing its discipline) Spending time with family increases your ability to bond with others, as well as your social intelligence (which will be very helpful in your conversation with the person who speaks the target language). Meditation practice allows you to relax and better focus on an activity 6. Learn to "chunks"!

This is a point that is often overlooked by a lot of learning and I really think it is detrimental because for me, culture is an important point of foreign language learning. In fact, linguistic aspects for me and cultural aspects are two inseparable components of each other. Because, for me, learning a language is more than a collection of words. By learning the culture gives you the opportunity to learn more about the people you are dealing with yourself: their way of thinking, their customs, their history ... This will allow you to communicate better with the natives and to avoid mutual misunderstandings that often there are among foreigners.

10. The 4 pillars that make learning a language! Like Chinese medicine considers the integral aspect of the human body instead of focusing on a particular topic, I like to see language learning as "a whole" consisting of the sum of different skills that are like pieces of a puzzle to be assembled if you boast that you can control it. The basic competences that make up any language are for me: - Reading skills - Writting skills. - The ability to listen. - Oral skills. Ideally, these skills will be worked on simultaneously (although this is not always possible) to avoid imbalances in their learning. So nothing prevents you from concentrating on one more than another, for example, if you have particular difficulties. For example: in English where we have the greatest difficulty is in the oral route, in which we are usually more lazy. Therefore, the focus will be more on this skill, by increasing my learning time for oral and reducing the learning time for reading and skills in which I am very good at writing. This list of features is, of course, not exhaustive. There is more that could very have its place here, but I wanted to give you the key in this section so that you have a general idea on how to make good progress in languages. And if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the ITERLINGUA team, we will gladly answer your questions.
