Lesson plan
Revision: T shows pictures of Corrientes on screen. She makes Ss say what they know
about their city by encouraging the use of ‘there is’ and ‘there are’ from the previous class.
Lead in: T asks Ss questions such as What´s the top tourist attraction? Where are the best
cheap restaurants? Is there a Tourist Information Office? Where is it?
Warm up: Ss read a text from page 42 in the Ss’ book, and answer questions about it.
First Presentation: T presents prepositions of place by eliciting information about drawings
that appear in the book.
Controlled Practice: Ss do Ex. 4,
Warm up: Ss listen to five dialogues and answer what each tourist want. Then, Ss listen to
the dialogues again and do Ex. 5 b.
Second Presentation: T presents ‘There isn’t a…’, ‘There aren’t any…’ and ‘asking where a
place is’ through sentences written on bb.
Controlled Practice: Ss do a listening activity and complete the questions in Ex 7 from the
Wb.
Later on, Ss listen to the tape again and complete a map according to what they hear.
Less controlled Practice: Pair work. Ss are put into pairs. One student in each pair is given a
Student A worksheet and the other is given a Student B worksheet. They are told not to
show each other their worksheets. They have to find six differences between the two plans.
They take it in turns to ask each other questions to find out where everything is, using is/are
there and the prepositions. For example, A: Is there are a bank next to the theatre on Corn
Street? B: No, there isn’t. There’s a hotel next to the bank. There isn’t a theatre on my map.
When they have finished, they compare plans to check their answers.
