The giant Titicaca water frog.
In the mountains of Peru lives the majestic Titicaca water frog, an endangered animal. This
frog is one of the largest in the world. Currently, scientists are studying its behavior and
habitat to better understand how to protect it.
In the past, the Titicaca water frog lived abundantly in Lake Titicaca, but its population has
drastically decreased due to pollution and hunting. This frog is larger than other frogs in the
region and has very wrinkled skin, which makes it unique.
The Titicaca water frog prefers to live in the cold, clear water of the lake, hiding among the
rocks. Despite conservation efforts, its numbers continue to decline, and biologists are
working hard to find solutions to help preserve this impressive species.
