A Young Man's Obsession with the Moon and His Perception of Reality - Prof. 1364, Apuntes de Idioma Inglés

A monologue written by a young man named jack, expressing his longing to see the moon and his belief that he is being kept from it by unseen entities. He feels trapped and unable to prove his reality to these entities, who insist that he is not ready to go outside and that the moon is not present. Jack's obsession with the moon and his confusion about his own memory lead him to question his sanity.

Do You Remember?
I know they are watching all the time. The moon is here. I can see it. I can´t be
wrong; I see it right here. Am I crazy? No. I can’t be. If I could only go out for a second
and prove them all wrong. But they won’t let me. They are always watching. As I walk I
can feel them looking at me. Everywhere I go they are always there; up, down, right, or
left, they are always there.
“You are not ready to go out yet.” They say, “We’re not in the moon. Go back to
sleep.”
The curtains are down. Is it day time already? The sun. I haven’t seen it in a very
long time. Where could it be? The last time I saw it was…I think it was… maybe… a long
time ago. I hate it anyway. I don’t miss it. I can only see the moon. I know it was those
birds. They alter everything. I know it’s them. Those annoying noises they make all day
long. I can hear them all the time. How do they even do that? I can´t see the moon nor the
stars when the curtains are down. I hate the curtains; I love the moon.
Even if I don’t see them I can feel them watching me. They can go wherever they
want whenever they want. But me? I have to stay here. Here it comes. One of them with his
annoying noises. I hate them.
“Hello Jack, how are you doing?” Said one of them.
“Where is the sun?” I said.
“It is out there. You know you can’t see it. It’s not good for you.” He said.

“I want to go outside. I want to be in the moon.” I said. “The moon is not here. The moon is way up high. I’ve told you, remember? Besides, the sun is out, and you know you are not ready to go out yet.” He said. The moon is there. I can see it. I can´t be wrong; I see it right there when the curtains are up. Am I crazy? No. I can’t be. The curtains are down. How do they do that? I’ve never seen them while they are moving the curtains. They are very fast. They fly all around, and yet, I only see them while they are still. They are always watching. “Jack… Jack. Do you remember?” He asked. “Remember what?” I said. “The day you came in here” “I’ve always been here. Haven’t I?” “No Jack, you haven´t. You’ve been here seven months, remember? Before you got here you lived with your wife Ana.” He said. “That’s not true. Stop lying. Go away!” I said. Ana…? Stupid birds. They always lie. I’ve been here since... forever. I know that. I always see the moon. It is right here outside. I love the moon. I wish I could go there, but they are always watching. As I walk I can feel them looking at me. Everywhere I go they are always there; up, down, right, or left, they are always there. There he is. He is coming nearer. He is moving the curtain. I knew they did it. I had never seen them before, but I knew it. “Hello Jack. I know you like to see the moon so I’m pulling the curtains up. It is out now. Come and see.” He said. The moon! It is here. The moon is here. I can see it. I can´t be wrong; I see it right here. Am I crazy? No. I can’t be. If I could only go out for a second and prove them all
