As a strategy to learn the past and past participle forms of irregular verbs, we suggest that you
fill in the charts below reorganizing the verbs we have included on pages 52, 53 in our
handout. “Regroup” them following a similar “pattern” as stated in each case.

  • You can choose between a regular form, generally in AmE (BURNED, DREAMED,…) or an irregular form, generally in BrE (BURNT, DREAMT…) After you have finished, try and add a new example of an irregular verb that has an alternative regular form but which has not been included in our handout.

Include all the verbs which do not fit in any “regular” pattern. BE WAS / WERE BEEN
