The urepean citizenship was created in 1992 by Maastrich
CONCEPT OF THE CITYZENSHIP:
-Having the nationality of an EU country = EU citizen.
-It does not replace national citizenship, it complements it.
-It is a political and legal link with rights and obligations.
PRINCIPAL LAWS:
-Move and live freely within the EU.
-Vote and stand for election.
-Consular protection abroad.
-Right to petition Parliament.
-Write to the EU in any official language.
-Access EU documents.
OTHERS IMPORTANT ELEMENTS:
-1 millón de firmas =pedir nueva ley.
-Cada 3 años la Comisión revisa derechos.
-Brexit :británicos perdieron ciudadanía UE.
-Golden passports: UE quiere prohibirlos (corrupción).
-Advocates for expanding rights linked to citizenship.
-Calls for a uniform European electoral system.
-Participates in the Conference on the Future of Europe to give
citizens a direct voice.
