2.03 The Native American experience
First of all, talking from a Native American perspective, we can see how each time there are
more settlers than Native American in our lands. This people are taking away our traditions,
our culture…Everything that the American Settlers do harms us in the one way or another and
it is not only that they are increasing more and more, but they are also killing us and therefore
there are more American Settlers than Native American in an exaggerated way. Therefore,
there is a bad relationship between them and us.
Secondly, from American Settlers point of view, we have heard that in the west there are high
temperatures and it is not easy to harvest but life is better because there is gold, silver, lots of
riches…and if we go to the west we will get money to support our families and we will be able
to feed ourselves. Therefore, I believe that the Native Americans are afraid of us since we are a
large group of people who are going to settle in their territory.
I believe that it is not necessary to destroy the culture of the Native American people in order
to advance American Settlers culture or vice versa.
I believe that both cultures can share their traditions…with the other and this way form a
single culture as a result of both.
