Structure:

● Introduction + opinion ● The first reason why you agree/disagree ● The second reason why you agree/disagree ● Opposite argument ● Conclusion + restate opinion

OPINION ESSAY

Linking words

● expressions for giving reasons (one reason for ... is / many people believe that... / since... / due to...), ● expressions opinions (to my mind... / I am convinced that... / from my point of view...), ● adding ideas (first of all.../ secondly... / what is more, …/ finally... ), etc.

Synonyms:

● Think: deliberate, consider , contemplate.. ● Reason: cause, motive, excuse, purpose…

Indeed : It is a way to let people know you are 100% sure of what you are saying. ● Nonetheless ● Thus: Short, but elegant. This means “as a result of,” or “due to this.” Thus is a great word that can be used to begin your concluding sentence. ● Furthermore ● Anomaly: An anomaly is something that stands out from the rest of your argument. ● Concur: To agree with, or to be of the same opinion. This can be very useful in an essay when going through the opinions of other researchers and/or academics.

Vocabulary

-Use formal style. Write your assignment as if you are giving an important speech. -Avoid slang and jargon. -Introduce the topic clearly.
