Present Simple Uses
1- We describe routines or actions you repeat every day or quite often
I brush my teeth every night
I get up at 7 every morning
2- Permanent situations or states (situaciones permanentes que no cambian o estados de la persona- vivir/
conocer/sentir/tener/necesitar)
He lives in Algezares (He´s living in Algezares, he´s an Erasmus student)
I know Tomas (I m knowing Tomas)
I don´t feel well (How are you feeling?
Alexis doesn´t have an A1 Certificate (Alexis isn´t having an A1 Certificate)
- Have tiene que usarse en Presente Simple cuando indica posesión pero también se puede usar en
Presente Continúo cuando se refiere a tomar comida, hacer un descanso, tomarse unas
vacaciones.....
What are you having? I´m having coffee with toasts
What are you doing? I´m having a break
What do you need? I need a coffee-
(I´m needing a coffee)
Adverbs and time expressions that usually go with the Present Simple
- Always
- Usually

- Once a week/ Twice a week/ Three times a week ......
Adverbs usually go before the main verb (antes del verbo principal)
Laura usually goes to the gym in the afternoon
Time expressions usually go at the end of the sentence (Expresiones de tiempo van al final de la frase)
I eat in a restaurant twice a week/every day
Present Continuous uses
Actions that happen by the time of speaking (acciones que ocurren en el momento en el que se habla, en
ese día en esa semana, o actualmente)
Sarah is taking a shower
