You recently saw this notice on an English-language website called TV world.
Let’s talk about `Strappare lungo i bordi´, an Italian adult animation series that expresses in a perfect way the
complicated passage of time towards adulthood. It's written and directed by the cartoonist Zerocalcare, who
also stars in it.
The plot is about the life of Zero, a cartoonist from Rome who explains his history through flashbacks and
exaggerated storytelling while he and his friends, Secco and Sarah, travel to Biella. During the show, the
protagonist is followed by an orange armadillo which represents his alter-ego, who tries to guide him in each
situation (and sometimes insults him).
It's Zerocalcare who did all the voices except armadillo’s, which is done by Valerio Mastandrea. It isn’t until
the last episode that we can listen to the real voices of his friends, representing that we are now in the
present.
In my opinion, it’s a masterpiece. I feel that everyone can identify with at least some of the situations that
occur during the series, because it represents many aspects of life and his difficulties. Furthermore, it's an
almost perfect mix of comedy and drama that will leave you wanting more.
