Anticipated order of themes:

  1. Geography, history and current affairs in Central Asia, specifically Afghanistan.
  2. Geography, and early history of the Middle East (otherwise known as near Asia and Southwestern Asia)
  3. The Three Abrahamic Faiths – Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
  4. The Modern Middle East, with a negotiation exercise between infidel invaders and Iraqi tribal sheiks.
  5. The geography and early history of the Indian Subcontinent.
  6. Hinduism and Jainism
  7. Modern history of the Indian subcontinent to include the following: Gandhi and Indian Independence, Partition, the Tamil Tigers, modern Myanmar (Burma)
  8. Buddhism (usually takes up a whole quarter, but we will play it by ear.
  1. Geography of East and Southeast Asia (a lot of islands and gulfs and seas to know)
  2. History of China beginning with the learning of the Chinese dynasty song.
  3. A brief look at Confucianism and Daoism
  4. The Opium War, Taiping Rebellion, the Chinese Republic and the Chinese Civil War.
  5. Brief background then the modern histories of Japan, Taiwan, The Korean Peninsula and Vietnam and the Philippines.
  6. Geography, history and culture of Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia, to include learning how to play rugby and touch matches if we are back in person at that time.

Britain – India, Pakistan, Burma, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong (see blue star) and assorted Pacific Islands Japan – Korea Spain (and later the U.S.)— The Philippines France – All of Indochina except Thailand. In other words, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and many pacific islands Netherlands – Indonesia Portugal – East Timor (crazy story) and Macao….see red dots Germany – Part of Papua New Guinea and Pacific Islands
