(BY THE TIME) By the time the police arrived the thief had escaped. 8-It’s May. I started learning German in January (FOR) I’ve been learning German for 5 months. 9-I’m on my way to the cinema (GOING) I’m going to the cinema. 10-The band started playing at 10 and we arrived at 10.30 (BEFORE) Before we arrived the band had started playing. 11- She hasn't celebrated her birthday at home for three years (LAST) The last time she celebrated her birthday at home was 3 years ago. She last celebrated her birthday at home 3 years ago. 12- Jane broke her leg once before. (SECOND) It’s the second time that Jane has broken her leg. 13- Paul plans to visit Rome next Wednesday. (IS) Paul is visiting Rome next Wednesday. 14.- It started to rain. I was on my way home. (walking) When it started to rain I was walking home. 15.- She has decided to study medicine. (going)
