We use the passive voice to emphasize the object and action.

Champagne is drunk on New Year’s Eve.
The FED prints dollars. Dollars are printed by the FED.
Teenagers use a lot of technology. A lot of technology is used by teenagers.
Ice covers 85% of Greenland. 85% of Greenland is covered by ice.
