What is?

Is a verb tense with two main uses.

● When an action is happening right now:

I’m sorry to hear that you’re sick.

● When it happens regularly:

I feel great! Pauline loves my pie.

Structure

● For positive sentences: subject + main verb (present simple) I like coffee

● For negative sentences: subject + auxiliary verb (do / does) + not + main verb (simple present) I don’t like coffee / He doesn’t like coffee

● For questions: auxiliary verb (do / does) + subject + main verb (simple present) Does she like coffee? / Do you like coffee?

How we use with the future tense?

The present simple is used to refer to events in the future which are certain because they are facts, or because there is a clear or fixed schedule or timetable:

● Her birthday falls on a Friday next year. (a known fact about the future) ● She has her driving test next week, does she? (a fixed arrangement) ● The train arrives at 20.12. (a timetable) ● What time does their flight to Seoul leave? (a schedule)
