Habitual Actions: It describes actions that happen regularly or routines. Example: "I walk my dog every morning." General Truths or Facts: It states facts that are universally true or permanent. Example: "The Earth orbits the Sun." Scheduled Events: It refers to events that are set or scheduled, often in the near future. Example: "The meeting starts at 3 PM." State Verbs: It expresses feelings, thoughts, and conditions that are generally stable. Example: "He knows the answer." Instructions or Directions: It can also be used for giving instructions. Example: "Turn left at the traffic light."

PRESENT SIMPLE PRESENT SIMPLE

  1. Add "s": For most verbs, simply add "s." Example: "She plays soccer."
  2. Add "es": If the verb ends in -s, -ss, -sh, -ch, - x, or -o, add "es." Examples: "He watches TV." "She brushes her teeth." "It goes outside."
  3. Change "y" to "ies": If the verb ends in a consonant followed by "y," change the "y" to "i" and add "es." Example: "He carries the bag." Note: If the verb ends in a vowel followed by "y," just add "s." Example: "He plays."

The present perfect tense is used to describe

actions that occurred at an unspecified time in the

past, actions that have relevance to the present, or

actions that started in the past and continue to the

present.

Structure:

Subject + has/have + past participle

Unspecified Time in
the Past:

Example: "I have met him before." (The exact time is not important.) Relevance to the Present:

Example: "She has lost
her keys." (The loss affects the
present situation.)
Ongoing Situations:
Example: "We have lived
here for five years." (We started
living here five years ago and still
live here.)

USE USE

Subject: The person or thing performing the action (e.g., I, you, he, she, it, we, they). Has/Have: I/You/We/They → have He/She/It → has Past Participle: The third form of the verb (e.g., "eaten," "gone," "seen")

PRESENT PERFECTPRESENT PERFECT Emphasizes the duration of an action that started in the past and continues into the present or has recently stopped but still has relevance to the present. Structure: Subject + has/have been + verb-ing

USEUSE

Duration: To show how long an action
has been happening.
Example: "I have been reading for two hours."
Recent Actions: To describe actions
that have recently stopped but still
affect the present.
Example: "She looks tired; she has been
exercising."
