WRITING TIPS for the EOI test (EE)
Read the instructions slowly and carefully, and make sure you
understand them. Consider the topic, format and length of your
essay/composition.
Arrange your ideas (or the items in the outline) in the order you consider
the most coherent.
Write an appropriate salutation /opening.
Develop your ideas (or the items in the outline) in different paragraphs.
Remember to use varied grammatical structures and rich vocabulary
and make sure that they are correct, too. Look out for spelling mistakes
and do NOT split words on different lines!
Comment on ALL the items in the outline/instructions and remember not
to exceed the maximum number of words.
You should allow yourself at least five minutes to revise your
essay/composition. Look out for grammatical and spelling mistakes:
verb tenses, 3rd person singular “-s”, singular-plural agreement, gerunds
and infinitives, double letters, no adjectives in plural, etc.
If you decide to write a draft first, take into account the time you’ll need to
write your final version.
Write an appropriate ending.
Make sure you enter your name and group before you hand in your
essay/composition.
