1. We normally form plural nouns by adding -s to the singular noun.
A book > some books
A car > two cars One student > many students
2. We add -es if the singular noun ends in -s, -sh, -ch or -x.
A bus > three buses
One dish > a few dishes A church > some churches
One box > a lot of boxes
3. Some nouns ending in -o add -es to form the plural:
A tomato > four tomatoes
One potato > some potatoes A hero > many heroes
4. Other nouns ending in -o, add -s only:
A piano > eight pianos One radio > a few radios
5. Nouns ending in consonant + -y, change the -y into -i and add -ies:
A city > many cities
One baby > some babies A family > a lot of families
One country > a few countries
A key = two Keys
6. Most nouns ending in -f or -fe take away the -f/-fe and add -ves.
A half > a few halves
One wife > some wives
One knife > a lot of
