Political Systems in the UK and USA: Constitutions, Representation, and Powers, Ejercicios de Historia

An overview of the political systems in the uk and usa, focusing on the differences in their constitutions, political representation, and power divisions. In the uk, the lack of a written constitution and the role of the monarch as head of state distinguish it from the us system, where the president serves as both head of state and government. The document also discusses the legislative and executive powers in each country and the role of the judiciary.

When talking about the UK and USA differences in the political term, the first thing that
comes to mind is the fact that, unlike most of the nations in the world, including the USA, the
United Kingdom lacks of a written document called a Constitution, alternatively, it has a
numerous amount of Acts of Parliament, that act like this document, even though it has not
the same name. Unlike the US constitution, this Acts of Parliament can be replaced by a
majority of votes in the legislation.
Now, referring to the type of political representation we can first find contrast between these
two politics in the fact that in the UK, we find a parliamentary democracy but in which the
monarch (constitutional monarchy) is the head of state, while the head of government is the
prime minister. On the other hand, we have got the United States of America, where the
president of the constitutional federal republic is both the head of state and government.
As our last point, we would like to talk about about the Houses. In the USA, we have two
houses of legislature; the House of Representatives and the Senate here it is distributed like
this, so there is stability. The executive powers here stay with the President and are
independent from the legislative. We have a huge division of powers, with a great weight in
the "Upper House of Legislature" controlled by the Supreme Court.
Against the previous type of government, the British one has also its power divided. The
British government wields executive power on behalf of and with the approval of the
monarch, as do the devolved governments of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The two
chambers of the United Kingdom Parliament, the House of Commons and the House of
Lords, as well as the Scottish and Welsh parliaments and the Northern Ireland Assembly,
control the legislative authority. The judiciary is separated from the executive and the
legislative. The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom is the highest court.
