Almost a quarter of teachers are worried about “hidden” surveillance cameras in
their schools.
For one hand, the teachers believe that the cameras amount to an invasion of
privacy and can also be a distraction to education.
Well, that’s true. For this reason we can’t forget that in school there are children
and they have the right of privacy. The same happens with teachers.
Furthermore, we have to know the parents opinion. So, it’s important to know
who can and can’t watch the recorders.
If we put surveillance cameras we have to be carefully with who can see this
records because if this records are watched for bad people we will have a big
problem.
For the other hand, put surveillance cameras in schools it’s a good way to feel
save and have proofs about what happens in school. Nowadays we can see a lot
of problems in school: bulling, thefts, aggressions, bad behaviour of teachers or
children…
In this case, have a surveillance camera makes the school a place to be saved
because one person knows all that happens in the school every time.
In my opinion, the best option is have surveillance cameras in school but only in
corridors, dinning room or playground. If the schools take this option, it offers a
security place and, at the same time, a not invasion of privacy lessons.
