E: Well, a recent paper published by IBM shows that 94% of company executives believe that it is
highly possible that their company is going to get cyberattacked in the next 2 years.

E: And I would add that in the worst possible scenario data breaching can even block a comapny's
operations.
Repercussions can range from sanctions to dismissals, from regulatory actions to loss of income or
even class actions.

E: Many research papers are proving that Board members are eager to know what are the real IT
risks. This said, as Lapo Cerrietti, who is Ferrero CEO, put it in a recent interview during the World
Economic Forum in Davos, most Board members do not have the knowledge and the experience to
manage such challenges.

members for data breach cases.
According to public prosecutors, those companies' Board members have allegedly disregarded their
obligtion to protect their customers' private information.

E: Well, cybersecurity (la sicurezza informatica) is a complex issue that can depend on any
company decision, not just on IT-related ones. By this I mean that, Board members do not have to
be IT experts, but they need to have a thorough knowledge of the risks their company might run
into if they do not comply with provisions in force. (yr 3)

E: Yes, that's a good option; still, the legal responsibility remains on company executives.
