What is text?
The Text is part of writing.
for example a letter, an email, a novel, a poem, a recipe, a note, some instructions, an article in a
newspaper or magazine, writing on a webpage or an advert.
Important remember that when we read or write a text ,we think about the purpose of
the text.
So for example the purpose of a text are
An advert to persuade person to buy something.
A short story to narrate a story.
A letter to inform
A novel to describe
So the different types of a message Depending on the purpose of the text,
Infact we can have different Text type
We can focus attention on different aspects of the communicative situation. So we have five
types of texts
1. Descriptive texts
2. Narrative texts
3. Expository texts

    1. Argumentative texts DESCRIPTIVE TEXTS The focus is on people, objects and relations in space. This text type is connect the mental process of perception in space Descriptions can be: Objective : describe a principal characteristic of something concrete (place/person/object). Subjective describe principal personal impression of writer about place/person/object. NARRATIVE TEXTS the focus is on persons, objects or relations in time. This text type is connect to the mental process of perception in time. the basic sequence of a narrative text are  Chronological: the facts are viewed in a temporal sequence;  Climactic: the facts are viewed in a sequence of developing importance;  Cause and effect: the facts are viewed as a result of something;  General-to-particular: the essential fact is given/stipulated at the beginning EXPOSITORY TEXTS the focus is on the analysis or synthesis of concepts. The connect mental process is that of comprehension so can have An analytic exposition takes a concept (usually) expressed by a word and create its constituent elements; A synthetic exposition takes the constituent elements of a complex concept (usually expressed by a text) and create a shorter formulation of it. IINSTRUCTIVE TEXTS the focus concern to future behavior (of the sender or of the receiver). The connect mental process is that of planning.
