Inca Location

  • The Inca civilization was located in South America along the Andes Mountains, in what is today Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina.
  • Their capital city was Cuzco.

Inca Religion

  • The Inca were polytheistic.
  • Their main god was Inti, god of the sun.
  • They believed their emperor was descended from Inti.

Inca Government

  • The Inca used messengers called Chasquis to relay information.
  • Chasquis carried quipus (a complex series of knots on colored string) to help keep records.

Incan Architecture

  • Machu Picchu was an important Incan city built high in the Andes.
  • Incan buildings were built out of stone. The stones fit together like a puzzle.
