Marks and results Reading and Use of English One mark is given for each correct answer in Parts 1-3 and 7, Two marks are given for each correct answer for Parts 56. Up to two marks are awarded for Part 4. The total score is then weighted to 50 marks for the whole Reading and Use of English paper. Writing assessment Examiners mark tasks using Assessment Scales that were developed with explicit reference to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The scales, which are used across the spectrum of Cambridge ESOL’s General and Business English Writing tests, consist of four subscales: Content, Communicative Achievement, Organisation, and Language: Content focuses on how well the candidate has fulfilled the task, in other words if they have done what they were asked to do. Communicative Achievement focuses on how appropriate the writing is for the task and whether the candidate has used the appropriate register. Organisation focuses on the way the candidate puts together the piece of writing, in other words if it is logical and ordered. Language focuses on vocabulary and grammar. This includes the range of language as well as how accurate it is. Responses are marked on each subscale from 0 to 5, The subscale Content is com- mon to all levels: Content All content is relevant to the task. ‘Target reader is fully informed. 3 Minor irrelevances and/or omissions may be present. Target reader is on the whole informed. 1 Irrelevances and misinterpretation of task may be present. Target reader is minimally informed. 0 Content is totally irrelevant ‘Target reader is not informed. The remaining three subscales (Communicative Achievement, Organisation, and Language) have descriptors specific to each CEFR level: i i i 102 Marks and results “sou ye Burueour apeduny Aeur sio1g ‘jorw0s jo aaidap ‘SPIO AUTOS YA SUTFOT PeoeUTUTEIS aydums sasyy | Suppuy Aovenbary-ysty ‘seq ‘shea a]duais ur svapt ayduns Ww ‘Ayozerndosdde Ajqeuosear Aremqesoa sseq sasy] SurIsn payanuds st 1x9], SOJEOUNIATOD IYI 1X9] saINpoIg “pouruaiep aq Jas ues Saruvaul ‘opqvaonoU a7¥ sIOIIO aI AN ‘JorIUOS Jo saI3ap poo & YN surso jeoneuUTEIs aydums sasq) “S9d1AIP BATSIYOO JO “SBOPE PIVAIOJIYSLEIIS 1a *sIxa| UreyJo9 | Jaquinu peru e pur sprom aIBOFUNUULUOD O21 shear oseradordde Bursnssao0 ATpedorsesso aprym “Ayoyeradordde | Suryuy a1seq Sutsn Guasayoo Ajjesoues ur yse2 sativorunu0s Ajperousd Arvnqesoa AepATaAa Sosy) pur peqauuos st ixay, al FO SUOCTIUSATIOD 9y3 ses] ‘uoneorMuUwos apadur 20u op si0413g ‘yoru0 Jo sa18ap pood & yA suLIO [eOMEUIUTEIS xa[duos autos pur aydums jo aBues & sasy] | *sed1Aop aaisayoo puv sps0m “SBOP! pivamiopysiens | 7] “SIXA] UOUNTOD S83] JO Sunyuy jo Ayes B Suisn aTeUNUIUOS puv LoUae sJepear asn aeradosddeur peuorses.0 yim “Kjoyersdaidde ‘qwarayoo pus pastue8io | JoSre1 342 proy O2 yse2 aarworuNUAIOD Axepaqesoa AepAraaa Jo adver 8 sosr] ][ae Aypeszatiad si 1xay, aYi JO SUOTUSALIOD 343 Sasf) smoneormmiuiuos apadurr }0U op ing qwasaid aq ABUT SI0II9 ]LUOISLIIO “AUTIGIROPT Yplas -ayeridoidde se ‘seapt xapdwi0> “ANPIGIXay pues forUOD YIM suTIO] | suzoned jeuoHesTURsI0 pues pure paemsopysiens ajzorunumu0. yeoueurmer8 xafduroo pue [duns jo a8uer v sasq]| © —-sadTAAP aatsayoo Jo AeA | uv UOTUERE SJopeer 10818} JY PjOY p “Ajaveridordde ‘srxay uournios 2 Zuisn ‘ajoya Wareyo> 0} AjaaToayje Ysei SalyeOLURUILOD ssa Suipnpour “Crepnqesos yo afuer e sasyy ‘pasiuedio-[faas & St 3X3], aYf1 Jo SMOMUSAUOS 941 Sas(] “Auriqrxay ayapduuo | ‘sasodind aayeorinunuos [ye Buypypny ‘sdijs se Afuo mo990 safoernoowur | YIM susoned jeuonesiuesio ‘ose YHA WORUAHe S.Jopeal yasiey Auy ‘jernau Ajaxoyduroo pure paypomuos Ay[ny “pa PUB sadlAap daISoyoo aya Surppoy ‘Aes sanooyye ue UT seept ra) -yeaustydos st TeuTUeIS JO aspy ‘apAls pure UoReS -rasiydos ‘uorstaaid ‘A2uanyy yim “srxay MOUTHS ssa Surpnpour “repnqeaoa yo aBue7 apt B sascy jo o8uez opim v Suisn Apmasayoo pue Ajasissardut pastueSio st xa, xopdwos s}eolunUWOD 03 ANTIQHReEY JUIIOYINS YUM Yse} ValeoruMaTWOS ayy JO SUOUIAUCS DY} S2S(} 103
