Computer Network Design and Implementation, Essays (university) of Network security

A comprehensive overview of computer network types, standards, physical topologies, bandwidth and communication, network protocols, networking devices, server types, hardware interdependencies, network design, configuration, testing, and enhancements. It covers the key aspects of designing and implementing a robust computer network infrastructure to support the operations of a freight railroad company, jnr, which has multiple offices across jordan. The document delves into the benefits and constraints of different network types, such as pan, wan, and man, and discusses the technical considerations and best practices for configuring and managing the network to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient communication and data exchange. It also addresses the significance of network upgrades and security requirements, making it a valuable resource for professionals and students interested in the field of computer networking.

A wide area network (WAN) is a collection of local area networks (LANs) or other

networks that interact with one another and spans a vast geographic region, such as

states or nations. In essence, a WAN is a network of networks.

Benefit

  • is not confined to a single place but rather covers a vast geographic range. - High bandwidth Constrain
  • A WAN network has more security issues as compared to LAN and MAN network
  • The WAN network installation is expensive since it necessitates the purchase of routers and switches.

3) MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)

A metropolitan area network (MAN) is a type of computer network that links

computers in an area with numerous buildings, such as a single big metropolis,

several smaller cities, or any other sizeable region.

Benefit

  • MAN is used in communication between the banks in a city
  • High speed than WAN: Data rates can easily reach 1000 Mbps because MAN uses optical fiber Fast file and database transfer speeds.

Constrain

  • Difficult to manage: It is difficult to manage if the size and number of local networks increases This is due to additional security and configuration issues.
