CLOUD COMPUTING

  • (^) A network computing approach where an application runs on a server, or a group of servers, owned by a provider rather than on your own computer
  • (^) Cloud computing is the on-demand delivery of compute power, database, storage, applications, and other IT resources via the internet with pay-as-you- go pricing
  • (^) Cloud is something that is somewhere up which brings us some service(i.e. RAIN)  (^) Have to request  (^) Have to pay

CENTRALIZED CLOUD

  • (^) For data that is not time driven.
  • (^) Not preferred in remote locations
  • (^) Load balancing is worse than edge cloud
  • (^) Not really good for IoT EDGE CLOUD
  • (^) Better for time sensitive data
  • (^) Mostly preferred in remote locations
  • (^) Load balancing is better
  • (^) Works really good for IoT

CONSTRAINTS

  • (^) The bandwidth is going to be fixed
  • (^) Efficiency can always be raised.
  • (^) Edge servers can do their computation
  • (^) A delay is introduced every time we upload or download data to/from the centralized cloud network  (^) Introduce Cache/ Look up table + Computational ability  (^) Edge servers

OBJECTIVES

  • (^) Deciding the boundary line?
  • (^) To implement a service selection procedure ,to have  (^) Less Latency  (^) Higher Data rate  (^) More Efficiency
  • (^) Along with more Reliability, Scalability and Cost-effectiveness // Business model issues

EDGE-CLOUD-SIM, THE SIMULATOR  (^) Sub modules:-

  1. The Core design module:- It is responsible for loading and running the edge computing scenarios from the configuration files.
  2. The Edge orchestrator module:- It is designed to fulfil the orchestration process that is a crucial issue on the edge computing systems.
  3. The Networking module:-It handles the transmission delay in the network by considering both upload and download data.
  4. The Mobility module:- It provides the mobility support that is one of the major lack in the cloud computing simulators.
  5. The Load-generator module:- It is responsible for generating tasks for the given application configuration

GENERIC EDGE COMPUTING ARCHITECTURE

SIMULATION ARCHITECTURE

  • (^) ONE TIER:-
    • (^) Data never travels to the Centralised cloud.
    • (^) Edge device and centralised cloud act as two independent entities.
  • (^) TWO TIER:-
    • (^) Classic cloud architecture
    • (^) For their computation the edge-devices are dependent on the centralized cloud
  • (^) TWO TIER with EO:-
    • (^) Introduction of middle layer
    • (^) Aims to reduce latency and increase throughput

FUZZY LOGIC

  • (^) Fuzzy logic is an approach to computing based on "degrees of truth" rather than the usual "true or false" (1 or 0)
  • (^) Fuzzy logic includes 0 and 1 as extreme cases of truth but also includes the various states of truth in between
  • (^) Fuzzy logic is based on the observation that people make decisions based on imprecise and non-numerical information
