WHAT IS EARTH
- Earth is a planet where living organisms exist.
- It is the only planet that is considered habitable. It is located in the goldilocks
zone.
QUESTION: Why do planet Earth belongs to Goldilocks zone? because it has
enough distance from the sun to prove an average temperature.
FACTORS THAT MAKES PLANET EARTH HABITABLE
Distance from the star
- Distance from the star affects the temperature as it is the one that gives light
energy (sun).
- It affects water to be frozen or liquid.
CONDITION:
Far from the star = low temperature
Near to sun like star= average temperature
Too near to the star = high temperature
Temperature
- The temperature must be in range that could support life.
- Range of humans is to -15C to 115C
- Influences how chemical would react.
CONDITION:
Low temperature = chemicals like atoms and molecules react slowly which results for
interference with reactions necessary for life.
Just enough = water is present. In this temperature, chemicals can break down into
context form
High temperature = chemicals structure are destroyed which results for no
transformation of chemicals into reactions and disruption of specific function.
- Lead to chain reactions of other changes
- Water evaporates due to intense surface temperature.
Mass of a Planet
- The size of the planet affects its gravitational force.
- Gravity helps the planet hold on atmosphere
CONDITION:
Low mass = it won’t have enough gravity, and the atmosphere will be stripped away
Just enough = has enough gravity to hold the atmosphere
High mass = has massive gravity which result for more gravitational pull and
atmosphere.
- It creates more GREENHOUSE GASES than what is needed
QUESTION: What is Greenhouse Gases? it is a gases in earth’s atmosphere that is
being trap in the sun causing for earth to produce warm weather and heat up. If the
earth’s atmosphere is too thick, the gases cannot escape which results for heat to
build up.

WHAT IS EARTH

  • Earth is a planet where living organisms exist.
  • It is the only planet that is considered habitable. It is located in the goldilocks zone. QUESTION: Why do planet Earth belongs to Goldilocks zone? – because it has enough distance from the sun to prove an average temperature. FACTORS THAT MAKES PLANET EARTH HABITABLE Distance from the star
  • Distance from the star affects the temperature as it is the one that gives light energy (sun).
  • It affects water to be frozen or liquid. CONDITION: Far from the star = low temperature Near to sun like star = average temperature Too near to the star = high temperature Temperature
  • The temperature must be in range that could support life.
  • Range of humans is to - 15C to 115C
  • Influences how chemical would react. CONDITION: Low temperature = chemicals like atoms and molecules react slowly which results for interference with reactions necessary for life. Just enough = water is present. In this temperature, chemicals can break down into context form High temperature = chemicals structure are destroyed which results for no transformation of chemicals into reactions and disruption of specific function.
  • Lead to chain reactions of other changes
  • Water evaporates due to intense surface temperature. Mass of a Planet
  • The size of the planet affects its gravitational force.
  • Gravity helps the planet hold on atmosphere CONDITION: Low mass = it won’t have enough gravity, and the atmosphere will be stripped away Just enough = has enough gravity to hold the atmosphere High mass = has massive gravity which result for more gravitational pull and atmosphere.
  • It creates more GREENHOUSE GASES than what is needed QUESTION : What is Greenhouse Gases? – it is a gases in earth’s atmosphere that is being trap in the sun causing for earth to produce warm weather and heat up. If the earth’s atmosphere is too thick, the gases cannot escape which results for heat to build up.

ADD INFO: All objects that have mass emit graviton. Graviton is tiny particles tht carries gravitational field.

  • If the object has a lot of mass, it emits strong gravitational pull, and vice versa. Atmosphere
  • Regulates planet surface temperature
  • Protects earth from harmful radiation and UV rays
  • Provide chemicals needed for life CONDITION: Not enough = gas molecules escape resulting for planet to have no insulating or protective shield. Just enough = keeps surface warm and protected from harmful radiation Too much = planet is too hot to survive and water is starting to evaporate. QUESTION: What are the chemicals needed? - C02, 03, Ar, O, N, NO2, CH4, H2O Water
  • Can be inform of ice or liquid vapor
  • Dissolve and transport chemicals to form a cell CONDITION: Not enough = keeps chemicals a cell and growth are not visible. Without water, cells in plants can’t grow, and without plants there is no animals which results for extinction. Just enough = keeps planet habitable Energy
  • Organisms use light or chemical energy to run their process CONDITION: Not enough = too little light or chemical energy results for organisms to die Just enough = has energy to run chemicals necessary for life Too much = makes planet too hot due to UV rays WHAT IS SYSTEM?
  • Any entity that consists of interrelated parts or components that are interacting to perform a unified function. Examples:

Geosphere or lithosphere (land/soil)

  • Solid portion of earth
  • Geological structures are found
  • Provides minerals
  • Serves as habitat of various species of flora and fauna, including human. Biosphere (living organisms)
  • where all living things are found
  • pathway of energy
  • a complex interaction and interdependent relationship of different life forms which all co-exists.
  • Symbiotic relationship. The existence of one is the existence of another. ADD INFO: Biomes- living things from ecological communities based on physical surroundings of area. WHAT IS THE SUBSYSTEM’S GOAL?
  • To provide and sustain life of the planet Biosphere (living organisms)
