F8 Extend current selection using arrow keys

(similar to pressing SHIFT and clicking with the

mouse)

F9 Update the currently selected fields

F10 Show/Hide the keyboard letter tips on the

menus

F11 Move to the next field

F12 Launch Save As to save the current document

CTRL + END Move cursor to end of document

CTRL + HOME Move cursor to top of document

CTRL + K Insert a hyperlink

CTRL + A Select everything

CTRL + P Print the document

CTRL + C Copy the contents of the selected cell

into the clipboard

CTRL + X Cut the contents of the selected cell into

the clipboard

CTRL + V Paste the contents from the clipboard

into the selected cell

SAVING A DOCUMENT

  1. Click File
  2. Click save or Save As… ( a Save As dialog box

appears)

  1. Type –in the file name in the File name box
  2. Click the Save button

EDITING A DOCUMENT

 Editing concerns making adjustments in your

document. Editing can include;

 Replacing,

 Moving,

 Coping,

 Deleting,

 Inserting,

 Spell checking

  1. Click Edit menu
  2. Click Find or Replace
  3. Type the word you want to search for in the “Find

what” box

  1. Click the Replace tab (on top of the find and replace

dialog box)

  1. Type the word to replace the existing one in the

“Replace with” box

  1. Click Replace button. Or Replace All if you want make

more than one replacement at ago

Finding and Replacing

TYPING, NAVIGATING AND SELECTING

Typing

 Typing is the process of writing or inputting text (letters, digits,

and symbols) by pressing keys on a, computer keyboard.

 Some symbols like @, #,$, %, &, are found on the computer

keyboard and so can be inserted using the keyboard.

 Others symbols not found on the keyboard such e. g , ©, ®, ü, Ø,

ë,, , , , .

 To insert these, follow the procedure below

  1. Position the cursor where the symbol is to be inserted
  2. Click the Insert menu
  3. Click Symbol
  4. Select the symbols you want. (if the symbol is not there try to

change the font)

  1. Click OK
  1. Click Insert menu
  2. Click Object…,
  3. Click Microsoft Equation 3.0 from the Object Type

box

  1. Click OK.
  2. The Equation tool bar will appear
  3. Thereafter, keep on clicking the buttons/tools that

are holding signs you want

Inserting Equations

This deals with replacing a word with synonym

 A synonym is two different words but meaning the same.

e.g. Man and Male

Steps when Selecting a best Synonym

  1. Select the text you want to replace
  2. Click Tools menu
  3. Point at Language
  4. Click Thesaurus
  5. Select the best synonym
  6. Click Replace

Look up words in the Thesaurus

 Sorting can be applied to items in table or in list

 Sorting requires two things;

 the sort key

 the sort order

Sorting Steps

  1. Highlight the paragraph or position the cursor within

the list if it is a table

  1. Click Table menu
  2. Click Sort
  3. Specify the field of interest (for tables) or paragraph
  4. Specify the Order (Ascending or Descending)
  5. Click OK
