PROFESSIONAL NURSING PROGRAM.
PROFESSIONAL NURSING PROGRAM GENERAL STUDIES: (See back of checksheet for complete list)
1. Regular admission as a pre-nursing student to Arizona State
University’s College of Nursing – must be in good standing.
2. Minimum prerequisite GPA of 2.75.
3. Completion of designated prerequisite courses with an earned grade of
“C” or higher in every course.
4. Attendance at an Application Workshop (Contact: 480-965-2987)
5. Submission of all required application material by the following date:
December 1 for Fall admission
July 1 for Spring admission
6. Completion of all health and immunization requirements.
7. Fingerprint clearance.
8. Proof of negative Drug Screen.
9. Other material as required (see catalog).
NOTE: ADMISSION IS COMPETITIVE AND NOT ALL APPLICANTS

AWARENESS AREAS (6 hours total)

All three areas are required, and a minimum of two courses is required. A course may satisfy a core requirement and an

awareness area simultaneously. Students are required to take at least 6 semester hours in three different awareness

areas.

CRITERIA FOR GRADUATION FROM ASU COLLEGE OF NURSING

(Student assumes full responsibility for meeting all graduation requirements.)

1. Meet all General Studies requirements of the University and all degree requirements of the College of Nursing

with a grade of C or better.

2. 120 minimum total credit hours:

(A) 64 credit hours Nursing;

(B) 56 credit hours General Studies and Electives.

3. 45 minimum credit hours in Upper Division courses.

4. 64 maximum credit hours from Community Colleges.

5. 60 maximum credit hours by comprehensive exams.

6. 30 minimum credit hours taken in residence at ASU.

7. 60 credit hours taken in residence at ASU are required to be eligible for honors recognition.

8. The General Studies and required credit hours for some students may not add up to 56 because of transferring

quarter hours of 2-3 credits instead of 3-4. Electives may be taken to make the total of 120 credit hours required

for graduation.
