Objective: To identify what is the solar system and to give eight solar system.
Code: S3ES-IVa-b-1

(1) Review:
- Ask the students if they have heard of the term "solar system."
- Ask them if they can name any planet in the solar system.
(2) Motivation:
- Show a picture of the solar system and ask the students to identify what they
see.
- Ask the students what they want to learn about the solar system.
(3) Activity:
a. Solar System Walk: Students will be grouped and will create a model of the
solar system using their bodies. They will be assigned to represent a planet
and will walk around the sun in their designated orbit. The teacher will guide
them in identifying the order of the planets and their characteristics.
b. Solar System Bingo: Students will be given a bingo card with the names of
the planets. The teacher will call out a planet and students will mark their
bingo card if they have it. The first student to get a line will win.
c. Solar System Mobile: Students will create their own solar system mobile.
They will be given a template of the planets and will color and cut them out.
They will then attach them to a string and hang them on a hanger.

  3. Which planet is closest to the sun? Answer: Mercury is the planet closest to the sun.
  4. Which planet is the largest? Answer: Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system.
  5. Which planet is known as the Red Planet? Answer: Mars is known as the Red Planet. (8) Assignment:
  • Students will be asked to write a short paragraph about their favorite planet and why they like it. Interactive activities related to the objective:
  1. Solar System Scavenger Hunt: Students will be given a list of characteristics of a planet and will have to search for the planet that matches the description.
