Attend and Document a Networking Event
Background information on the networking event.
- The networking event I attended was called Hub Networking Mixer and it
took place at Ted Rogers School of Management campus on Monday,
October 23, 2023, between 12-2 pm. It was an event where we had an
opportunity to meet and network with recruiters from 7 different
organizations to learn about exciting co-op, internship, and new grad
opportunities
Why I selected it and my goals for attending the event.
- I selected it as I want to learn more about co-op and the benefits of taking
co-op programs. My goals for attending this event were to be more
comfortable with co-op opportunities in general as I find it interesting.
Who will be at the event?
- Ameer Ali, Tina Wilson, Francesco Varano, Tara Flynn, Anika Marzia,
Rhythm Patel and Foram Shukla
What are your goals?
- As said before, my goals were to be more comfortable with the co-op
opportunities they were educating and providing us.
What are their goals?
- Their goals were to educate us students with exciting co-op, internship and
grad opportunities that their organization was providing.
What can they do for you? (What do you get?)
- They can provide information about different kinds of opportunities that they
were telling us about, one of the main ones being co-op.
What can you do for them? (What do you give?)
- We can join their co-op programs and help them with what they are requiring
for us to do like market their products and more.
Develop event-specific goals.
- One event-specific goal I have is to be able to gain enough information about
what we students can do in co-op as it seems like it would be an interesting
opportunity to be part of.
Questions I would like to ask at the event.
- A question I would like to ask at the event would be if I wanted to go into
retail marketing, would I have to take any marketing courses or would I be
able to go into marketing with just a business education background?
How would I rate this event?

  • Ameer Ali, Tina Wilson, Francesco Varano, Tara Flynn, Anika Marzia, Rhythm Patel and Foram Shukla What are your goals?
  • As said before, my goals were to be more comfortable with the co-op opportunities they were educating and providing us. What are their goals?

  • A question I would like to ask at the event would be if I wanted to go into retail marketing, would I have to take any marketing courses or would I be able to go into marketing with just a business education background? How would I rate this event?
  • I would rate this event a 10/10 as it gave me great insights into what co-op is and the different opportunities these 7 organizations provide. Was it interesting, enjoyable, growing, fun, productive or useful?
  • It was definitely interesting and useful as it educated me a lot on what we can do after university to have a good future. Would you rather have been doing something else more beneficial to you?
  • I would rather not have done something else as this experience itself was very beneficial to me. How could the event have improved your overall experience of the event?
  • In my opinion, the event could have been a little more organized as it was a little all over the place with how the organization booths were organized and people were scattered everywhere. What was the most interesting, useful, surprising, insightful or comment that you heard?
  • The most interesting comment that I heard was that for some careers we don’t necessarily have to have the corresponding education for it as long as we learned something similar. For example: to become a marketer for an organization you don’t necessarily have to have a marketing education background as long as you have studied something in the business field. Describe an interesting or memorable break-in and breakaway you experienced
  • An interesting break-in and breakaway that I experienced was when I would start or end a conversation with one of the recruiters I would shake their hand as a way to show my respect and gratitude for them coming and educating us on their organization. Describe how, during the event, you might have practiced an entrepreneurial mindset such as curiosity, alertness, opportunity spotting, proactivity or creativity.
  • During the event, I practiced curiosity when the recruiters from the organizations informed us of the different opportunities and benefits we could gain by doing co-op with their organization. If you did any Post-Event follow-up, how did it go?
  • I did not do any Post-Event follow-up. If you could do one thing differently next time, what might that be?
  • Next time one thing differently that I would do would be to engage with other people at the event more as I only engaged with a couple of friends I went with and the recruiters of the organizations.
