MOST COMMON MALWARES
Malwares that you are familiar with or you might have been encountered
before and discuss the cause of penetration, how much damages did it
costs you and if you have recovered your data? Discuss each. It should be
1 paragraph for each malware.
a) Adware
I have encountered adware in my laptop multiple times. The causes
of penetration are accessing illegal sites to watch movies and
series. Also, I downloaded torrents from different illegal sites. I may
or may have lost data. I may have not noticed since I have many
files in my laptop.
b) Spyware
I am familiar of spyware especially the keyboard logger type. It is
famous in movies and it is often in the news back in the day where
data security was just starting to get tight. The causes of
penetration were usually people giving their data to any sites or
links that they deem trustworthy. Also, there were cases that they
use equipment to personally get your information when you enter
your credentials and information in public computers such as ATMs
and Internet Café Shop.
c) Virus
I am familiar with virus. I also encountered it multiple times, and I
know people who encountered it lost important files in their
computers. The causes of penetration for me were downloading files
in the Internet. For others, it was the use of Flash Drives that
contains virus. Most of the files that were affected were not
recovered.
