Three essential security devices and tools for both personal use and systems security: firewall and encryption, anti-virus software, and intrusion prevention system. Firewall and encryption work together to protect networks from unauthorized access and data encryption. Anti-virus software safeguards devices and files from viruses and malware. Intrusion prevention systems monitor networks for suspicious activities and attempt to block them.

Which do you think of the security devices or tools are most effective? Choose at least three (3) and justify your answer if it is for personal use or for systems security. a) Firewall and Encryption Firewall and Encryption when combined are strong for systems security. A firewall consists of software and hardware set up between an internal computer network and the Internet to filter out unwanted access. Encryption is the process of encoding data that can only be viewed by authorized individuals. Encryption is widely used in systems like e-commerce and Internet banking. b) Anti-virus The anti-virus software helps us protect our devices and files from viruses. It looks at applications, downloaded data, files, hardware, and web pages to check if there are any threats and flag suspicious behaviors. Its function is to block or remove malwares as quickly as possible. It also confirms if your computer is safe or has been infiltrated by malwares. c) Intrusion Prevention System An intrusion prevention system (IPS) is a system that monitors a network for malicious activities such as security threats or policy violations. The main function of an IPS is to identify suspicious activity, and then log information, attempt to block the activity, and then finally to report it to the host.
