Abstract
Online hotel reservation is web-based software required for a hotel in order to attract the guests from all over the globe, which includes checking availability of the rooms, deciding the duration of stay and choose among the various services provided by the hotel. It is an interactive webpage that help both the hotel officials and guest to obtain the required information about each other. We will work on this project ONLINE HOTEL RESERVATION as per our Semester project with a view to get familiar with the technology. It shall include the basic information of the guest and the occupancy of the rooms in the data base which shall make the system simpler in making transaction. Keywords: Hotel, services, webpage, officials, guest, interactive.
1.Introduction
A hotel reservation system is a software application that is implemented by hotels to allow guests to create secure online reservations. In addition to allowing guests to book online directly, these reservation systems can also provide hotel operators with additional resources. Hotel reservation system offers an operational integration between reservation, guest history, reception and front desk. It not only facilitates the guest via the web page information but also the personals to generate reports for analyzing the booking system, checking in and checking out status. Online hotel reservation system is best suit for managing the recourses in very simple but effective manner with minimum efforts or time so that it increases one's revenue. It helps to manage small to medium size hotels, inns, cottages and many more. It is designed to help in managing the booking procedure and use the gathered data in reports to analysis the marketing and financial results.
2.Problem Statement
Nepal is growing tourist destination and due to this broadening in tourism sector, there has been a good rise in the number of hotels and resorts in Nepal. The rapid development and commercialization of information and communication technologies for the travel and tourism industry has promoted hotels and other enterprises in this sector to increasingly adopt these technologies. In today's Nepal, where people might lack the balance in their cellular devices but has the good had constant access to internet, it becomes a necessity for the hotels to adopt an online reservation system to enhance the operating efficiency. Checking on to the manually maintain records of who checks in or who checks out of the hotel along with the availability of the rooms, every time someone inquires to personnel is a hectic and time consuming activity for both the guest as well as personnel. Thus, this system cuts off the time which could have been otherwise wasted in manual efforts and helps facilitated both the hotel as well as the interested guest.
3.Objectives
๏ To make able to do the online booking of rooms of their desire facilities and price. ๏ To provide a secure payment gateway for online transaction. ๏ Allow booking of rooms without errors and without creating conflicts. ๏ To develop and promote tourism.
4.Significance of study
The study helps in development of the system that manages the services of the hotels, providing efficient information to the guest regarding these services through a webpage. The study also provides support in making the system dynamic as per requirements of the guest so that the information about the guests' can be added, updated and deleted. Finally, the study also looks into other similar kind of system in use to explore the benefits of the system as well as its drawbacks.
5.Scope and Limitation

6. LITERATURE REVIEW
6.1 Review
There are various work performed and being performed in the online hotel reservation system. Many hotels and motels might use a desktop based application to manage their hotel works in the tourist areas like Rara Lake, Rara National Park but none provides their services online. Thus, to overcome this problem, our online hotel reservation system lets people check the availability of the room in the hotel of their desire on the date of them reaching the destination.
6.2 Domain
Our Online hotel reservation system can be used in small or large hotels, motels or inns with low cost.
6.3 Existing System
The hotels or inns in the place of great tourist importance like Rara have been using certain software or even no software. These system used in the hotels of such areas include personnel's as operators which doesn't let the people sitting in a room in Kathmandu have an idea whether they might get the place to stay on their arrival to the destination. So, these tasks seem very time consuming less secured and prone to errors.
6.4 Comparison with Existing system
Our system has numerous advantages over the existing system. Our system eliminates the limitation of having an unsure visit to the destination due to lack of online reservation. These systems can be used by almost all small and large hotels. As the records are stored in database, we can update, delete and add information as per requirement.
Incremental model includes the following phases: Analytic Phase - In this phase, the requirements of the software was analyzed which resulted in โ Software Requirement Specificationsโ. Design Phase - In this phase, analysis of the SRS was translated into the systemโs design. Context Diagram, Use-Case Diagram, ER Diagram and Class Diagram were developed. Coding Phase- This phase involves the coding as per the design and formation of a working system at the end of the process. Testing Phase- In this phase, the system was tested. With each testing, certain changes were made as per the suggestion. This was done in an incremental manner until a satisfactory system was made.
