Chapter I Introduction Project Context A pet is an animal kept by human beings as a source of companionship and happiness. Pet ownership is even more common among families with children, with 68 percent of US families owning a pet. There is also evidence that people form strong emotional bonds with their pets. Over 80% of cat and dog owners say that "friendship, affection, business, fondness" is a positive benefit of owning a pet, according to a recent US national survey of adults (American Pet Products and Association, 2018). Pet ownership is a symbiotic relationship in which both animals and people prosper. In the United Kingdom, 95% of dog owners and 93% of cat owners said that owning a pet made them happy, and 44% of owners said it was one of the reasons they had their pet in the first place. A pet have a high emotional value and help lonely elderly people socialize by providing more opportunities to interact with people. Pets have a life purpose, relieve tension, and keep the owner physically active (Overgaauw et al., 2020). However, not every pet owner is aware of all of the nearby local veterinarian clinics and the facilities and services they provide, which is why pet owners tend to take care of their pets in other ways. The study of the Pet Management System provides an understanding of having a regular visit to a veterinarian. Instead of seeking advice from a licensed veterinarian, most pet owners depend solely on what they can find on the internet. Pet owners thinks that internet help them make smarter choices about their pets' fitness, illness, and wellbeing. According to a study
clinics provide restricted facilities, and certain pets in need of immunity vaccines or who have a serious condition must be referred to private veterinary clinics, which have a wider range of tools and equipment. Due to the pandemic, most veterinary clinics in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan adopted a personnel protocol requiring them to reduce their staff in order to comply with the Philippine government's laws and regulations. This situation allows veterinarian clinics' processes to be delayed in order to please more of their customers. Aside from that, the government imposed strict guidelines to prevent citizens from going outdoors due to the outbreak. As an outcome, the majority of pet owners have no options but to skip a visit to their pets' veterinarian. According to the results of a survey conducted by (Health for Animals, 2020), the Covid-19 outbreak is affecting pets in many countries to undergo delayed or missing treatment, which has some veterinarians concerned that pet health may worsen as a consequence. For this particular study, it is a web-based system wherein the researchers will use sublime text editor and free hosting and domain. The Pet Management System will help pet owners gain a better understanding of how to properly care for their pets, and pet owners will no longer have trouble finding nearby veterinary clinics. Pet owners will no longer have to wait for lengthy periods of time because the system will create a time-and- date schedule for their pets, and it will be the only time they would attend veterinary clinics. Associated with that, this system will also promote local veterinary clinics in the San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan region. Veterinary clinics, both private and public, will benefit from a more structured system for accepting pet patients.
Objectives of the Study The primary goal of this research is to develop and design a website that can support both pet owners and veterinarians. This study aimed to:
