Project Proposal on Enhancement of School Garden in Senior High School within Bacoor Elementary School

I. INTRODUCTION

A school garden is one of the most essential things to have. A school garden provides numerous benefits for education, the environment, and health. School gardens are defined as any garden where the students are taught to care for flowers and vegetables. School gardens can provide students with healthy food by involving them in the food creation cycle. It also helps the students familiarize themselves, and understand how food grows and where it comes from. A school garden has many educational, environmental, and health advantages. It gives students the chance to participate in experiential learning activities that encourage a deeper understanding of a variety of areas, including science, biology, agriculture, and nutrition. Additionally, a well-kept school garden can also encourage good eating and physical activity and can offer a peaceful setting for relaxation and stress reduction for the students of Senior High School within Bacoor Elementary School.

A. Rationale

We, Group 2, came up with a project proposal, which is "Enhancement of School Garden in Senior High School within Bacoor Elementary School" because we recently noticed that our school garden is being neglected. And if you ignore it for a long time, it might be completely destroyed, so we want to address this problem. We want to have a school garden renovation so that it can be maintained and make the school garden even more useful. To do this successfully, we need the participation and involvement of students, teachers, and parents.

B. Goals and Objectives

A. Methodology

The project will assess the existing garden area next to our school canteen and undertake a full assessment of the school garden's current state, including its size, layout, infrastructure, and plant condition. While designing the school garden plan, this project took into consideration factors such as accessibility, safety, and optimal use of space. We will also identify areas for improvement in obtaining the resources needed to make the intended enhancements, such as materials, tools, and funds.

B. Schedule

The renovation of the school garden is expected to start after the school year 2022-2023 ends. June 7 - 12, 2023 – Finalization of project proposal June 13 - 14, 2023 – Project proposal submission and approval June 15, 2023 – Planning and Revisions July 11 - 13, 2023 – Inspection of school garden area July 14, 2023 – The renovation of the school garden has started July 22, 2023 – The renovation of the school garden is finished July 25 – 29, 2023 – Final touches and enhancement of the school garden August 8, 2023 – Inauguration of the newly renovated school garden to the students of Senior High School within Bacoor Elementary School

C. Support Needed and Costs/Budget

A school garden's funding and spending needs are very crucial matters in the project. The cost of a garden will vary depending on its size, design, and intended use. Thus, the following are the necessary equipment or materials:

 Seeds or plants  Compost system (Organic material for soil improvement)  Tools:

  1. Hand Trowels
  2. Shovels
  3. Gloves
  4. Rakes
  5. Buckets
  6. Grass cutter
  7. Large Hoe
  8. Garbage Bags
  9. Wheelbarrow  Signage  Water access and a water hose/ Water sprinkler  Plant Labels/ Markers  Bamboo for fence A school garden will be started and maintained with the help of several subsidies, schemes for raising money, and local resources. The PTA and parents will be a great help looking for materials for a school garden as many parents are more than happy to offer their time, money, and professional knowledge to support a school garden.
