Pulse Code Modulation, Data Communication, Recommending Networks-Data Communcation and Networks-Assignment Solution, Exercises of Data Communication Systems and Computer Networks

I am student at Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technologies. To help my friends in other universities, I am uploading my solved assignments of different courses. Its for Data Communication and Networks course. Other can see if they are searching following: Efficient, Speed, Economical, Utp, Cables, Lan, Ethernet, Token, Ring, Twisted, Pair, Cable, Quantization

Assignment No. 3
Semester Spring 2012
Data Communication - CS601
Total Marks: 20
Due Date: 04-06-2012
GOOD LUCK
Q. 1. Suppose you have been asked to give a proposal of a Local Area Network for a company which requires
easy reconfiguring, efficient in speed and economical in cost network. Considering these three factors, which
guided media you will prefer for this type of network? Give three good reasons to support your answer.
(2 Marks for suggestion/name of media and 3 marks for three reasons) [2+3 = 5]
Answer:
UTP
By keeping in view the requirements of the company I will suggest Twisted Pair Cable (UTP)
Reasons behind selecting this are as follow:
1. UTP cables are easy to install.
2. UTP cables are cheap as compared to other guided media.
3. Higher grades of UTP are used in many LAN technologies including Ethernet and Token Ring
Q. 2. Analog signals are considered more prone to Noise as compared to digital signals. Suggest a proper method
or technique with its complete steps for a telecommunication company which wants to convert its analog signals
in digital signal to avoid from noise.
Note: just name the technique and its steps, detail is not required. [5 Marks]
Answer:
Analog signal can be presented in digital signal through PCM (Pulse Code Modulation).
1. PAM
2. Quantization
3. Binary Encoding
4. Digital/Digital Encoding
