Accuracy Rate:
(Total words read – Total errors) / Total words read x 100 = Accuracy rate
Ex: 99 words and 8 errors, you would do (99-8)/ (99) x 100= (91/99) x 100= 92%
Self Correction Rate:
(Number of errors + Number of self corrections) / Number of self corrections = Self-correction rate
Ex: 8 errors and 2 sc, you would do (8+2)/2= 1:5 (one self correction for every five words)
Words per Minute:
(number of words x 60)/ (total time in seconds)= wpm
Ex: Time: 2 minutes and 20 seconds to read 99 words the equations would be:
(99x60)/(140)= 5,940/140= 42.4 wpm
