The RID Code of Professional Conduct establishes ethical standards that guide interpreters in providing professional, accurate, and respectful interpreting services. It emphasizes confidentiality, professionalism, respect for consumers and colleagues, impartiality, and ongoing professional development. Interpreters are expected to use ethical decision-making when facing challenging situations, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and promote effective communication while respecting the rights, dignity, and autonomy of all participants.
