1 Preface

The Quidway AR 18 Series Access Router is a new generation fixed-port product for small-sized enterprises and branch offices. It features enhanced security, superior reliability and advanced QoS services. Quidway AR 18 Series include four families: AR 18-1x Series Router, AR 18-2x Series Ethernet Router, AR 18-3x Series xDSL Router and AR 18-5x Series WLAN ADSL Router.

2 Quidway AR 18-1x Series Router

2.1 Introduction

The Quidway AR 18-1X Series router offers flexible interfaces, advanced backup function and powerful packet processing capability. It is easily deployed and maintained. With excellent cost-performance ratio. It is an ideal choice for SOHO and SME networking. Quidway AR 18-1x Series includes AR 18-10, AR 18-12, AR 18-13, AR 18-15, AR 18-16, AR 18-18, which have diverse fixed interfaces.

2.2 Key Benefits

2.2.1 Diverse and Flexible Interfaces

The Quidway AR 18-1x Series Router provides superior capability and diverse interface, such as Ethernet interface, multi-protocol synchronous/asynchronous serial interface, auxiliary (AUX) port, ISDN BRI S/T and U port, cT1/PRI port and E1-F port. Subscribers can select a solution among various WAN technologies such as PSTN, Frame Relay, X.25, DDN and ISDN.

2.2.2 Advanced Backup Function

The Quidway AR 18-1x Series Router supports the function of interface backup, link backup and route backup. It can be configured in active / standby mode between the leased line and the dial-up link, leased line and the virtual link, or two dial-up links.

2.2.3 Easy Network Management

The network management system of Quidway AR 18-1x Series Router is compliant with the SNMP standard and universal network management platform. It is convenient to deploy and centralize network management.

2.2.4 Powerful Packet Processing Capability

Advanced CPU technology, highly effective, real time and multi-task operating system are used to substantially enhance its capability to process packets.

Quidway AR 18-2X Ethernet Router totally has five Ethernet interfaces, one 10M Ethernet interface for WAN, 4 Fast Ethernet interfaces for LAN, forming a 4-port Fast Ethernet switch.

Advanced CPU technology, highly effective, real time and multi-task operating system and unique software are used to substantially enhance its capability to process packets.

3.2.3 Rich and Cost-Effective VPN Solutions

Quidway AR 18-2X Ethernet Router can provide a lot of VPN solutions, such as dynamic VPN, L2TP, GRE, IPSec, IKE, as well as MPLS VPN. It could be used in Intranet VPN and Access VPN, and will greatly reduce customers’ costs.

Quidway AR 18-2X Ethernet Router can support services such as AAA, firewall, ASPF (Application Specific Packet Filtering), IKE, IPSec, GRE, NAT, L2TP, PPPoE, DHCP etc.
