Ada Lovelace, born December 10, 1815, is considered by many to be the first female computer programmer in history. English mathematician and writer, daughter of the famous poet Lord Byron, she revolutionized science with her mathematical knowledge, developing the first computer program with the support of her inventor friends. The best thing about its history is that it was developed when computers did not exist. This scientist's note featured cutting-edge programming ideas and included a Jacquard loom- inspired punch card system that would be used to program the first computers in the mid-20th century. In recognition, "Ada Lovelace Day" has been held on the second Tuesday in October since 2009 to honor the work women are doing in science and technology.
