The mysterious box
My name is Archie, and I have to tell you what recently happened to me. Last Friday, I woke up
at 7:30, like all Fridays, I start my early morning routine, like a normal work day, but, when I
was washing my teeth, the doorbell rang. I quickly went to the door, but when I opened it, no
one was there. I looked at both sides of the street but I didn’t see anyone. I thought it was a
kid’s joke and was going to close the door, but I repaired in a little box placed down in the
porch. It had to words written with a shimmering ink at the front: “For Archie”.
I picked it and entered home, wondering who could send me that little box. I sat down at my
comfortable sofa and I opened it. It was empty except for a little piece of paper attached to a
side. It was very strange because the only thing that was written in it was dots and lines. But
then I realized that it was Morse code! I ran to the computer and search for the Morse code in
Google, and started to decipher the code.
After some minutes of decoding the paper, I finally got the message: Go to the Sea bar at 8:00
pm tomorrow. I didn’t imagine who could wrote that and why I had to go to that bar in the
centre of city tomorrow but I had just taken the final decision, I will go to that bar to answer all
the question that were on my mind. I would be prepared for everything.
I woke up the next day very nervous, I wanted to go now to uncover the mystery but I had to
wait. I spend all day reading books of self-defense to be more than prepared if the meeting
was something bad. I also went to a shop to buy a knife, even though it was raining. I wanted
to feel overall, secure. At 7:30 pm I picked the bus to the city centre. My hands were shivering.
I arrived one minute later at the bar, and without thinking, I entered. I was very dark and
silent. I wasn’t able to see or to hear. Suddenly all the lights turned on and a lot of people
shouted at the same time: “Happy Birthday!” I screamed very loud and take my knife out of
the pocket until I realized that it was my birthday, and it was a surprise party organized by my
family. When I realized, I became red as a tomato, I was very embarrassed.
