DICTATION 2. APPLES
One of the things that really annoys me is when I buy food in the supermarket, and I see
that, for example, I buy apples and here in the UK we grow a lot of apples. And I go to the
supermarket to buy some apples, and they come from New Zealand or South Africa or
something. And I just think it’s crazy, I mean, I don’t understand why we pay for apples to
come millions of kilometres, from the other side of the world, when we grow them right
here in this country. It really makes angry. (98 words)

 DICTATION 3. A SPECIAL DAY

Mother’s day In 17th^ century England, young servants who lived away from their families were allowed to visit their mothers on a day which became known as mothering Sunday. Nowadays it’s the day when children of all ages treat their mum to something special, it’s one of the busiest days of the year for florists and restaurants and millions of mums enjoy a special breakfast in bed which their children have lovingly prepared.  DICTATION 4. PHOTOGRAPHS

I hate seeing myself in photographs, I always think I look awful in family snaps but I’d love to have my photograph taken professionally. Like the pictures of celebrities you see in the magazines – they’ve all been touched up so the people look thinner or more beautiful or whatever. Still, I do like having family photos around. We keep a lot on the computer but I’m not sure about that. It’s very convenient, but if something goes wrong you could lose everything. I want to know my family photos will still be there for my grandchildren to look at. (99 words) New First Certificate Gold, unit 6, list. 1, exercise 2, speaker 4, p.
