comparative chart
también denominado
presente indefinido
es
el tiempo verbal presente.
Es uno de los tiempos
verbales del presente
utilizados en inglés,
además del presente
progresivo, el presente
perfecto y el presente
perfecto progresivo.
The present continuous
or present progressive is
one of the verb tenses of
the present used in
English, the others are the
present simple and
present perfect. All of
them can be used in both
the indicative and the
subjunctive mood.
The past simple is the
verb tense that is used in
the English language to
narrate events that
occurred at a specific
time in the past. It
corresponds in its
meaning approximately
to the simple past perfect
in Spanish.
The present perfect is a
grammatical combination
of the present tense and
the perfect aspect that is
used to express a past
event that has present
consequences.
The past perfect, or
antecopreterite in some
countries, indicates a past
action that occurred prior
to another past, that is,
prior to another past
tense. It is a perfective
-
looking relative tense.
The "simple present" is
used:
To express habits
and routines, general
facts, repeated actions
or permanent
situations, emotions
and desires
The Present Perfect
Continuous is used
when you want to
highlight an action,
which began in the
past and is still
ongoing. It is also used
for a process that has
taken place or is still
taking place. This
process has an impact
on the present
The past simple is used
to talk about a specific
action that started and
ended in the past. In
this case it is
equivalent to the
Spanish indefinite past
tense. Generally, we
use it with adverbs of
time like "last year",
"yesterday", "last
night"
The "present perfect" is
used to describe An
action or situation that
started in the past and
continues in the
present. Note: When
we want to give or ask
for information about
when, where or who,
we use the "simple
past". See how to
choose between
"simple past" and
"present perfect".
This verb tense is used
to indicate the past
moment in which
something happened
before another event
also happened in the
past tense. Since the
past perfect simple
indicates that the
situation or event has
already ended, it
always emphasizes the
result.
