CONDITIONALS
ZERO CONDITIONAL (La fem servir per veritats absolutes)
FORMULA: IF + VERB PRESENT SIMPLE, PRESENT SIMPLE.
EXEMPLES:
1. If you heat wáter at 100 degrees, it boils.
● Si escalfes aigua a 100oC, l’aigua bull.
FIRST CONDITIONAL (Expresa una possibilitat molt probable)
FORMULA: IF + VERB PRESENT SIMPLE, WILL + INFINITIVE VERB (without TO)
● Per a les ordres tenim una altre formula.
IF + VERB PRESENT SIMPLE, IMPERATIU
EXEMPLES:
2. If you study very hard, you Will pass the exam.
● Si estudies molt, aprovaras l’examen.
3. If you go to the cinema, call me.
● Si vas al cinema, truca’m.
SECOND CONDITIONAL (Expresa una possibilitat hipotética. = Situació inaginaria)
FORMULA: IF + PAST SIMPLE, WOULD + INFINITIVE VERB (without TO)
● També es pot fer servir els modals COULD o MIGHT, en comptes de
would.
● En la segona condicional, el passat simple del verb to Be és sempre
WERE i no WAS. (I, he, she, it = WERE)
EXEMPLES:
1. If you studied very hard, you would pass the exam.
● Si tu estudiesis molt, aprovaries l’examen.
2. If I were you, I would buy a new car.
● Si fos tu, hem compraría un cotxe nou.
THIRD CONDITIONAL (expresa una hipótesis en passat)
FORMULA: IF +PAST PERFECT, WOULD HAVE + PARTICIPLE VERB
● Recorda que el past perfect es fa amb el had+ participi.
● També es pot fer servir COULD HAVE o MIGHT HAVE + participi, en
comptes de WOULD HAVE + participi.
EXEMPLES:
1. If you had studied very hard, you would have passed the exam.
● Si haguesis estudiat molt, hauries aprvat l’examen.
