To make translucent powders you need a key ingredient
that can be bought in a supermarket, such as cornstarch or,
failing that, you can use rice starch; It is necessary to take
into account to buy cornstarch and not cornmeal, because
the first is white and very fine, which helps to give a very
matte and velvety finish to our powders.
First, we must choose the dose of cornstarch that we want to turn into powder, because the
more cornstarch we add, the more powder we will obtain. Then, we remove the cornstarch
and put it in a large bowl. In turn, if we want a translucent colored powder, we can add a
few drops of food coloring or clay according to the type of skin. On the contrary, if we
want a transparent powder, no type of colorant
should be added. Next, we mix the cornstarch with
the coloring, clay, or if it is transparent powder, it is
only mixed with water, so that it dissolves and is a
homogeneous mixture and this is poured on an
absorbent cloth or kitchen paper. It is necessary to
clarify that, in the process of resting the mixture that should last approximately 48 hours,
lumps may appear, therefore, we have to remove them with a mortar or simply mixing and
stirring it very well. Finally, we pour the powder into a
container that has a lid that allows it to be sealed. If
you have a container of a previous powder that you
used, it will fit you perfectly. In addition, it is advisable
that to keep the translucent powder without problem it
should be away from sources of heat and humidity.
