AMPUTATION

Is the loss or removal of a body part such as a finger, toe, hand, foot, arm or leg. It can be a life changing experience affecting your ability to move, work, interact with others and maintain your independence. Continuing pain, phantom limb phenomena and emotional trauma can complicate recovery.

BLURRED

Indistinct or hazy in outline; "a landscape of blurred outlines"; "the trees were just blurry shapes“ Unclear in form or expression; "the blurred aims of the group"; "sometimes one understood clearly and sometimes the meaning was clouded"

CELLS

These are the basic membrane-bound unit that contains the fundamental molecules of life and of which all living things are composed. A single cell can complete organism in itself, such as a bacterium or yeast. Other cells cooperate with other specialized cells and become the building blocks of large multicellular organisms, such as humans and other animals.

DESTRUCTION

The action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.

DIABETES

Is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and comes from the food you eat.

FAILURE

Is the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective.

FATIGUE

Feeling very tired, with little energy and a strong desire to sleep that interferes with normal daily activities.

GLUCOSE

Is the main type of sugar in the blood and is the major source of energy for the body's cells. Glucose comes from the foods we eat or the body can make it from other substances.

HYPERGLYCEMIA

Hyperglycemia or high blood glucose means there is too much sugar in the blood because the body lacks enough insulin. Associated with diabetes, hyperglycemia can cause vomiting, excessive hunger and thirst, rapid heartbeat, vision problems and other symptoms. Untreated hyperglycemia can lead to serious health problems.

INFECTION

The invasion and multiplication of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites that are not normally present within the body. An infection may cause no symptoms and be subclinical, or it may cause symptoms and be clinically apparent.

INJECTIONS INSULIN Human insulin is used to take the place of insulin that the body normally produces. It works by helping move sugar from the blood to other tissues in the body where it is used for energy. It also prevents the liver from producing more sugar.

METABOLIC SYNDROME Is a cluster of conditions that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

NEPHRONS

Functional unit of the kidney, the structure that actually produces urine in the process of removing waste and excess substances from the blood.
