PLOT
- Saturday: Mom went to get a birthday cake for her son.
- Monday: The birthday boy was hit by a car while going to school.
- The boy went to the house and the to the hospital
- He then fall asleep
- His parents were very worried.
- They took turns to go to the house and “relax”
- Apparently the boy was in a coma, and he was not waking up. Although, he was in a stable condition.

MAIN IDEA: DEATH - (the “coma” of the kid)
The main idea we choose was death because it's something that worries everyone. A coma is a kind of death because although he’s vital signs are still good the person is not totally alive and the idea of the parents that their boy could be in a coma was torturing them, both parents were concerned and impatient about the boy’s condition.
“At an intersection, without looking, the birthday boy stepped off the curb, and was promptly knocked down by a car. He fell on his side, his head in the gutter, his legs in the road moving as if he were climbing a wall.”
“Of course, the birthday party never happened. The birthday boy was in the hospital instead. The mother sat by the bed. She was waiting for the boy to wake up.”
THEME
The quotes makes us infer that the parents were hoping the kid would wake up from the coma. One of the biggest aspects that makes us human, is the fear of losing someone we love, this event puts the parents in this situation, making fear and preoccupation, letting the boy’s condition in uncertainty way. This situation also makes the birthday party never happened and the cake was never claimed.
