1.Questions:
1) Draw the firm’s current organizational chart;

2) Comment on the chart
There are 7 departments. Its structure is vertical, it is grouped by functions. The
departments have decision power, for example the Accounting and Human
department as it is said in the text “Finally, people from the Accounting and
Human Resources department are endowed with enough autonomy to take
decisions related with the issue. Technical dierences and complexity, and
coordination problems are the main problems.
3) Identify those organizational units having decisional power and
those not having any decisional power (Sta units);
According to the text most of the departments have decisional power. Maintenance
and Finance are the ones which do not have decisional power.
4) Comment on the interrelations among dierent departments;
The dierent interrelations among departments are dierent. The relation
maintained between Accounting and Finance department is based on the
information, they share information , about costs, prices, benefits... Another
relation maintained is between production and Maintenance, they share
information about materials needed.
5) Comment on the work organization of the Production department,
and on its technical (manufacturing) facilities;
The information and technical skills required are really dierent between the
process related to speciality goods and the manufacturing system. Manufacturing
process is more dicult and it requires workers with studies and knowledge about
it. On the other hand, the process related to specialty goods is simple. There are

proposed changes;



7)Which are the main advantages and disadvantages of

the new organization chart?

The main advantage is the specialization, that is going to allow us to produce
more and will make our products better. The main disadvantage is that the
cost will increase.
