It was in 1997, having spent a day playing soccer in the park, my older brother come back to my house. Waiting to cross the street, he talked with his friends about the score and the next opportunity to play again. Suddenly a decrepit car approached and hit him. Many people were in confrontation with the driver because his bad action. Being angry, they decided to call the police. Upon realizing what had happened, the driver speeded away to elude his responsibility. On checking my brother, his best friend Paolo saw blood oozing from my brothers’ head. He was in bad condition. Not knowing what to do, Paolo and other friends took a taxi and carried my brother to the hospital. It is not easy to explain the difficult situation at that time. It was Sunday, I was at home with my three sisters. My mom was cooking lunch and my father was working outside. Someone knocked on the door. They were other friends of my brother. Being worried, they decided to come to my house and accompany my mother to the hospital. After being carried to a hospital, my brother was unconscious for almost two hours. My mother wanted to be him. She was worried and extremely impressed by the situation. Fortunately, my brother could talk and moved. It dawned on her that her son would be fine. The doctor said that his status was stable, but it was necessary to take different tests to make sure that he was out of danger. My parents were worried about medical expenses, my brother needed therapies, special equipment to recover his mobility because he had hurt his ribs. Having been moved by the situation of my brother, his friends wanted to collaborate. While my mother spent days accompanying my brother, his friends had done different activities to raise money to help my mother and she can pay all the bills. My mother was extremely grateful because of friends ‘compassionate act and also because they gave us emotional support in that difficult moment. On returning home, my brother received a visit from a priest of our local church that also bring us help. Thanks to this act my brother was able to fully recover his health. Sometimes we think that our problems are the worst in the world and that we cannot help others, I believe that there is always something we can do to help people. If we have the opportunity to improve someone's situation, let's do it, in some way this will make us a better person.
An unforgettable memory One of my favorite hobbies is telling my children about my childhood years. This is the best part of my life because there were countless happy memories. I remember that each summer vacation I used to visit my grandmother´s house for two reasons: First, my grandma always prepared my favorite meal, it was a typical dish from the north of Peru. I could not recollect its name, although however, I can remember its smell and flavor. Even now, the smell of that dish awakes in me a vivid memory of my dear grandmother. Second, in her neighborhood I had a chance to meet a lot of new friends so we went out to play every day when I stayed there. On that summer, the highlight of my vacation was a trip that I took. I was 12 years old when my grandparents decided to take a trip to Trujillo. It was the first time that I travelled within the country; besides, my first time that I spent more than 15 hours on a bus. It was really exhausted. However, I was happy because I was travelling with my grandma; also, her interesting conversation about all the places we were going to visit, was able to mitigate the stress of the trip. When we arrived, it was very hot. I wanted to go to the beach. My grandmother had told me that Huanchaco Beach is the most famous beach in Peru; therefore, I was excited to go there. I got nice moments around this place. My grandma bought souvenirs to remember our visit. For example, she bought a very nice items of pottery, T-shirts, and a lot of presents for my relatives. After spending a couple of days on the beach, we went to visit other exciting places: Chan Chan, La Huaca del Sol y la Luna, to name a few. The trip was unforgettable, nevertheless we only stayed there one week; otherwise, I could have visited more places and enjoyed the typical dishes in my grandmother's homeland. To conclude, I just say that we can preserve our memories by doing the exercise of telling them because it is a fact that our memory tends to deteriorate over the years. I would never forget those beautiful moments with my grandmother. She was smart, hardworking, she really pampered me. All in all, I would say I miss her so much. It is a good paragraph (as usual) 😊
