PRESENTATION
First, we are going to show you some researches about second languages here in Spain and then
we are going to explain you something about English Language which is quite interesting.
NECESSITY OF A SECOND LANGUAGE IN SPAIN
Here you can see a graphic which shows what people think about the necessity of a second
language. The 54% percent of the people think that it is necessary because it can help you in
some aspects of your life and the 46% percent of the people think that it is not necessary
because they don’t think that a second language is useful for their life.
PEOPLE THAT SPEAK ONE, TWO OR MORE LANGUAGES
The 40% percent of the people don´t speak a second language maybe because they find it
difficult to learn it, the 39% percent of the people speak a second language because they need it
for their day-to-day and the 21% percent of the people can speak multiple languages because
they like learning different languages.
SECOND LANGUAGES SPOKEN
Here we can see the most common languages that people use here in Spain as a second
language. Firstly, we see the 40% of the people here in Spain use English as a second language,
it is normal if we think that English is the most important language in the world, in my opinion
if you can speak in English you can travel anywhere and communicate with people from all the
cultures and countries. The 4% of the people use German as a second language, a lot of teenager
are going to German to work there nowadays, but on the other hand we all know that German is
a difficult language to learn. Then we see that French has the 18%, I think that a lot of people
here in Spain can speak in French because France is Near us and a lot of French people is living
here so we learn from them. As we see the 23% of the people don’t specify which language they
have as a second language, I think that it can be Chinese, Russia or Italian, nowadays we can
see that there are so many people from china here in Spain and I think that Chinese will become
1 of the most important languages in the world in some years.
IMPORTANCE OF A SECOND LANGUAGE
As we see in the graphic, the 16% of people in Spain think that speaking more than 1 language
is a very important thing to get a job, I think that this people who think like this maybe work in
hotels, as waitress in a place which has a lot of tourism or things like this where you really need
a second language to work there. The 39% of the people think that knowing a second language
is important but just in some cases, I agree in this because for example if someone works as a
cooker in his own country he don’t need to know a second language in his job but if he wants to
travel abroad he will need something to communicate with people there. Finally, we see that the
18% of the people think that you don’t need to learn a second language because it is something
useless, I don’t agree with this people and I think that it could be people that live in small towns
where they don’t have tourism there and they just speak with people that live near them, this
people just speak in Spanish and it is worth for them.
PEOPLE THAT WOULD LIKE TO LEARN A SECOND LANGUAGE
The 70% percent of the people would like to learn a second language because they think it is
useful but they don’t have enough free time to study and the 30% percent of the people wouldn’t
